I bought this book from BookOutlet because it seemed mildly interesting, and so I could brag that I bought 14 books for $42 (that dang boxing day sale, am I right?) I fully went into this purchase expecting this book to look pretty on my shelves for two years, but I just so happened to read the right book before it. So when I finished Follow Me Back by A.V. Geiger I was looking for something similar, you know the whole “anonymous correspondence” trope. I found it in this book – because duh, the title- and absolutely loved it! But boy did this book make me cry, only at the very end though, so you’re safe readers who hate sad books (I’m talking to you mom). Wildman also deals with upholding expectations and how sometimes the best moments in life can catch you off guard. Wildman has been getting some MAJOR hype lately and was one of the main reasons I bought it, and it didn’t disappoint. It was such a great story and reminded me of Jeff Zentner’s The Serpent King . Both books will make you instantly fall in love and leave a lasting impression. This book was unique in its own way, and held me captive from the start. Goodreads Summary *NO SPOILERS* After Hours is an unexceptional book that left me struggling to finish. A book about dares that had me excited to read, because I thought it would be similar to Nerve by Jeanne Ryan, but was not well written and not exciting at all. While reading this book I found some grammar and spelling errors which was really annoying and the dares in the book weren’t exciting at all. They were lackluster and this book kept piling up problems one by one. I also had a problem with the pacing in this book, whole weeks would go by with nothing happening. This book reminded me a little of Kasie West’s P.S I like you and is one of the reasons I liked it. The main character can be a little annoying at times, and I had to put the book down once or twice from major second-hand embarrassment. Despite that, I really enjoyed this book. Yes, this book does have a love triangle in it, but it is one of those that you love to hate. This story was so cute and charming, I was smiling all the way through. This book also deals with some relevant topics to today, such as: Societal hierarchy, stereotypes, and judgement. Goodreads Summary *NO SPOILERS* I started this book thinking it will be a story of people helping people, which is great! And it was, but it was so much more than that. This is a powerful piece on regret and what ifs. Lisa does a great job at answering the question “what would you do if you only had 24 hours left?” This book was really moving and got me thinking about all the possibilities there are in life. Its main message is that you will always regret a missed opportunity and that life is too short to waste it. It really came across that you will never know if you don’t try. This book also pointed out that there are multiple issues with our society that we don’t notice until it is too late.
